Streaking Heat Can Make History vs Milwaukee

The hottest team in professional basketball is the Golden State Warriors Miami Heat. Umm, what?

In case you haven't been paying attention, the Heat are on an absolute tear right now. As of February 8, Miami had won 11 straight games while covering the spread in each contest.

The Heat were in second-to-last place in the Eastern Conference just a few weeks ago, but have since risen up the standings to 11th – ahead of New York, Philadelphia, Orlando and Brooklyn and one game behind Milwaukee. Their current record of 22-30 isn’t anything special upon first glance, but they’re only two games out of a playoff spot with a little less than half of the season remaining.

Miami has the chance to make history in tonight's game against the Bucks. With a win, the Heat would surpass the 1996-97 Phoenix Suns for the longest winning streak by a team with a losing record. Surprisingly, sportsbooks were dealing the Heat as 4-point underdogs at the time of writing.

The young trio of Tyler Johnson, Dion Waiters and Josh Richardson has been paving the way in South Beach. Waiters is especially impressive, as the 25-year-old is averaging 15.5 points on 41.6 percent shooting on the year.

Labeled a selfish player for the majority of his brief NBA tenure, Waiters is averaging 4.2 assists this season. A week ago he was named the Eastern Conference player of the week for his efforts.

Here’s a look at how the Heat have done at the betting window lately:
