Suns Heat Odds and Midweek Previews

The Phoenix Suns will get their first chance to face the new star-studded lineup of the Miami Heat on Wednesday as 8.5-point road underdogs at most sportsbooks.

Phoenix (6-4 SU, 5-5 ATS) is riding a three-game win streak - including a thrilling 121-116 win over the defending-champion Lakers on Sunday. This will be their fourth game in six nights against a well-rested Miami team, and betting the Heat straight up might be a good play for bettors.

The Suns lead in nearly every category over the Heat - who are 6-4 SU and 4-6 ATS this season. Phoenix also has an overall advantage of 15-7 on the road in Miami. The Heat have only two wins over lowly Toronto and New Jersey in their past four home games - and have dropped three of five overall.

While the OVER has paid out in all of Miami’s previous five games, the total has gone UNDER in six of nine contests against the Suns when at home.

With the rebounding expertise on the Suns' side, and the offensive struggles of Miami’s James, Bosh, and Wade, it might be time for UNDER bettors to take notice of the high total set at 208 at Sportsbook.ag for this game.

Another interesting matchup on Wednesday will see the Dallas Mavericks (7-2 SU, 4-3-2 ATS) looking to keep their road unbeaten streak together when they tip off against the undefeated-at-home New Orleans Hornets (8-1 SU, 8-0-1 ATS). This one is shaping up to be an exciting affair, but betting against New Orleans to cover could be dangerous.

If bettors are in search of a team that has a strong ability to cover the spread, then a safe wager might be the 4-7 SU Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. Detroit is a 7.5-point underdog over at Bovada against the Lakers.

The Pistons have covered in eight of 11 games thus far. The Lakers, meanwhile, were 8-2 SU heading into their Tuesday contest - but just 5-5 ATS.

It’s a light night on Thursday in the NBA with just three games on the schedule. Denver meets Portland on the west coast, where the Trail Blazers enjoy a 3-1 home record. The road has not been kind to the Nuggets, as they have lost there four times in the early going.

Denver won both meetings between the two teams last season, and might be poised for a road upset in the contest. Portland and Denver are known to combine for high-scoring games, which means OVER bettors could see an advantage here.
