NBA Finals Odds Preview: Spurs vs. Heat
The San Antonio Spurs picked up four ATS victories but lost SU in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat last season, so they'll be looking to turn those tables this spring as the two teams tip off the league's championship series this week.
In last year's NBA Finals betting matchup the Heat and the Spurs traded off wins and losses through the first six games before Miami grabbed a 95-88 victory as a 5.5-point home favorite on the NBA betting lines in Game 7 to claim the title. That was just the third UNDER result of that seven-game NBA Finals.
During this past regular season the Heat and the Spurs split their two meetings 1-1 both SU and ATS, with both teams winning and covering the posted spread on the NBA odds at the sportsbooks at home.
For Game 1 of the NBA Finals odds matchup on Thursday night the Spurs opened as 3.5-point home favorites at 5Dimes, but on the series prices at that sportsbook Miami and San Antonio both opened at a line of -110.
The Heat swept Charlotte in the first round of this year's NBA playoffs then got past Brooklyn in five games before dispatching Indiana in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. Miami is 10-5 ATS in its first 15 postseason games this spring heading into the NBA Finals.
The Spurs needed the full seven games to knock out Dallas in the first round, then used just five games getting past Portland before surviving the Western Conference Finals against Oklahoma City in six games. San Antonio went 9-9 ATS in those 18 games, and they're 9-3 ATS in their last 12 outings.
