Kings Traditionally Hate Playing the Hawks

Expectations for the Atlanta Hawks weren’t particularly high this year, but they’ve looked like one of the best teams in the NBA through two games. The Hawks have yet to face a team that made the playoffs last year, however, and they’ll have another date with a Western Conference bottom-feeder when the Sacramento Kings come to town on Monday.

Shark Bites
  • The Kings are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games against the Hawks.
  • The total has gone OVER in 11 of the Kings' last 14 games against the Hawks.
  • The Kings are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games.

Sportsbooks initially set the Hawks as 7-point home chalk with an OVER/UNDER of 201.5.

The Hawks’ decision to sign hometown boy Dwight Howard was mocked by some, but Atlanta hasn’t had any buyers’ remorse through two games. Howard hauled in 19 rebounds in a 114-99 win over the Washington Wizards in the first game of the season and seven more in only 19 minutes as the Hawks hammered the Philadelphia 76ers 104-72.

Dennis Schroder, who became the team’s starting point guard when Jeff Teague was traded to Indiana in the offseason, has transitioned seamlessly to the role. The 23-year-old is 10-for-19 from the field while handing out 11 assists in 28 minutes of work versus the Sixers on Saturday.

The Kings used to hate playing Atlanta, but they got the monkey off their backs earlier this year. Sacramento snapped a 15-game losing streak in the series with a 91-88 home win in the last meeting on January 21.
