Thunder vs Mavericks Playoff Betting

The Dallas Mavericks may be the defending NBA champions but they'll begin these playoffs as underdogs when they go up against NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant and his Oklahoma City Thunder.

As of Friday afternoon, sportsbooks were listing OKC as a 7.5-point favorite for Saturday's series opener (9:30 pm Eastern, ESPN), with the 'over/under' at 193.

WilliamHill.com is listing the Thunder at -380 on its NBA betting moneyline for Game 1, with Dallas getting +290 to win the game outright.

OKC is a -550 favorite at Bovada to win this series, with the Mavericks getting +375.

WilliamHill is also listing Oklahoma City as an even-money favorite to win the Western Conference, and at +320 to win the NBA championship, while the Mavs are getting +1,600 to win the West and +3,300 to repeat as league champs.

Dallas struggled from the get-go this season, losing its first three games, and sat at 8-7 in mid-January. The Mavs then started to get things going, but never really found a good rhythm. They also lost four of their last six games, and finished at 36-30, which got them the seven seed in the West.

On the other side of this matchup OKC led the West for most of this season, but stumbled a bit down the stretch, going 7-7 over its last 14 games.

The Thunder won the Northwest Division by nine games, but got passed by San Antonio in the conference standings, and had to settle for the two seed in the West.

Oklahoma City took the season series from the Mavs three games to one. Three of those games played 'under' their posted totals.

On the injury front Thunder G James Harden took a cheap-shot elbow to the head from Lakers idiot Ron “World Peace” Artest last Sunday, and missed OKC's last two games. But he has been cleared to play Saturday.

The Thunder went 26-7 straight-up and 17-16 against-the-spread at home this season, while the Mavs went 13-20 SU and 15-18 ATS on the road. Conversely, Dallas went 23-10 SU and 17-16 ATS at home, while Oklahoma City went 21-12 SU and 18-15 ATS on the road.

OKC ranked third in the league in scoring this season at 103 PPG but only went 31-35 on the 'over/unders.'
