ACC Betting Odds 2012
The ACC has long been the domain of the Duke Blue Devils and the North Carolina Tar Heels, but it's a third team that's pegged as the favorite on the ACC betting odds at the sportsbooks heading into the season.
And that team is the N.C. State Wolfpack, which has opened as the +135 favorite at 5Dimes on the odds to win the ACC this year.
The Wolfpack had a strong run in the NCAA Tournament last year as a No. 11 seed - falling by three points to Kansas in the Sweet 16 - and they have four starters back this season plus several high-end recruits. N.C. State is sitting at No. 6 in the AP Top 25 poll to open the season.
The Blue Devils are next amongst ACC teams at No. 8 in the AP Top 25 poll with the season set to get underway, and they're also second at +225 on the odds to win the ACC at 5Dimes. Duke lost by five points to Lehigh as a No. 2 seed in their first game of last year's NCAA Tournament, and they also lost guard Austin Rivers and forward Miles Plumlee to the NBA Draft.
The Tar Heels saw four players plucked from their roster in this summer's NBA Draft - forwards Harrison Barnes and John Henson, center Tyler Zeller, and guard Kendall Marshall, and they're at No. 11 in the AP Top 25 poll and at +350 on the odds to win the ACC at 5Dimes
North Carolina lost to Kansas in the Elite Eight of last year's NCAA Tournament, and they were beaten by Florida State in the title game of last year's ACC Tournament. The Seminoles, who won just one game last year during March Madness, are the last ACC team ranked in the AP Top 25 at No. 25, and they sit at +675 on the odds to win the conference at 5Dimes.
Miami (+900), Virginia (+1100), Georgia Tech (+1250), Maryland (+1600), Wake Forest (+1750), Clemson (+2500), Virginia Tech (+4500), and Boston College (+5500) round out the ACC betting odds heading into the start of the college basketball season.
