The Big West quarterfinals went chalk on Thursday so we are left with the top four seeds in the conference for today’s semifinals.

Starting things off, the No. 1 Long Beach State 49ers take on the No. 4 UC Irvine Anteaters. The 49ers are 5-1 straight-up in the last six meetings but the series is tied 3-3 against the spread.

Then No. 2 Pacific will take on No. 3 Cal Poly in the other Big West semifinal. Cal Poly has a slight 3-2 edge both SU and ATS in the last five meetings with the total staying UNDER in four of those games.

-------------------------------

The Long Beach State 49ers edged the Pacific Tigers by one game to capture the Big West regular season title and starting this Thursday at the Honda Center in Anaheim they will try and add a tournament title and automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament to their resume.

The 49ers will start things off against No. 8 Cal State Fullerton in the third game of Thursday’s quarterfinal round.  Long Beach State has won four of the last five meetings both straight-up and against the spread including a sweep both ways in this season’s two contests. The total stayed UNDER in both of those meetings. The 49ers have been opened by Sportsbook as 7-point favorites this time around.

No. 4 UC Irvine will face No. 5 Hawaii in the nigh cap as a 4.5-point favorite. The Anteaters split the season series with the Warriors SU with each team winning at home, but they covered the spread in both games. The total was evenly split as well - however it has gone OVER in three of the last four meetings.

The bottom half of the bracket features two early games on Thursday starting with No. 2 Pacific squaring off against No. 7 UC Santa Barbara. The Tigers easily won the first meeting this season 80-62 as 7-point favorites at home, but they were stunned on the road 66-53 in the second game as 3.5-point favorites. This time around Pacific has been opened as a 5.5-point favorite over the Gauchos with the total set at 123.

Then, the No. 3 Cal Poly Mustangs will take on the No. 6 UC Davis Aggies. The Mustangs are 5-1 SU (4-2 ATS) in their last five games against UC Davis, with the lone setback being a 2-point loss on January 10 as 2.5-point road underdogs. The total has stayed UNDER in four of the six games. Cal Poly has been opened as a slight 1.5-point favorite for Thursday’s matchup with the total set at 132.
