Kansas vs Detroit Midwest Region

In a David vs. Goliath pairing perennial Final Four contender Kansas meets Detroit in the Midwest Regional 2-vs.-15 game Friday night.

The Jayhawks, who are appearing in the tournament for the 24th straight season, are favored by 15 points over the Titans. Detroit won the Horizon League tournament to earn their first Big Dance invitation since 1999.

Kansas is favored but not by a huge amount as Sportsbook had them at -15 Wednesday.

The game is being played at CenturyLink Center, which makes it technically a neutral site match.

This season, the Jayhawks are 27-6 overall and 16-15-1 ATS ATS, while the Titans are 22-13 and 13-19 ATS against the number. As for the totals, Kansas boasts a 13-18-1 on the OU, and Detroit is 16-16.

How They Match Up:
In the paint, the rebound battle will feature Kansas's No. 54-rated squad against Detroit's No. 200-rated roster. And in long-range shooting, Kansas rates No. 188 in the country with 6 per game, while their foes tonight rank No. 314 nationally with 4.6 per match.

Defensively, Detroit features the nation's No. 106-rated defense on the road, allowing 67.6 points per game. Kansas, meanwhile, comes in at No. 26 nationally in scoring at home.

Detroit won its last outing, a 70-50 result against Valparaiso on March 6. They covered in that game as a 2.5-point underdog. The battle between the Titans and Crusaders didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Valparaiso was handed a 70-50 defeat on Tuesday at Athletics-Recreation Center.

In their last action, Kansas was an 81-72 loser at home against Baylor. They failed to cover the 6.5-point spread as favorites. Tyshawn Taylor scored 20 points in a futile effort to lead the Jayhawks to a win (they lost 81-72 to Baylor at Sprint Center on Friday).

Detroit Titans Trends:

After playing Valparaiso are 4-6
