Elite Eight Betting: Saturday Games

Butler hasn’t been a favorite yet in this year’s NCAA Tournament, even though they nearly upset Duke in last season’s championship game.

And once again it’s the Bulldogs who are 3.5-point underdogs in college hoops betting action at Sportsbook.ag for their Elite Eight matchup with the second-seeded Florida Gators on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (26-9 SU, 18-14-1 ATS) have won 20 games or more six straight seasons, so knocking off big-name teams is nothing new for Butler. They beat powerhouses Syracuse, Kansas State, and Michigan State in the Big Dance last year.

This year’s tourney has been similar for Butler. They beat Old Dominion as 1-point underdogs in the opening round, defeated top-seeded Pittsburgh as 8-point 'dogs in the second-round, and toppled Wisconsin in the Sweet 16 as 4.5-point underdogs.

The Bulldogs have won 12 straight games with an impressive 8-3-1 record against the spread. With Butler’s experience last season and a pretty decent basketball team, they could be a good underdog bet once again. [ Best Butler line +3.5, -103 at 5Dimes ]

Florida (29-7 SU, 17-14-1 ATS) is no slouch either, winning 79-51 over UCSB in their first game as a 12.5-point favorite and beating UCLA 73-65 as 5.5-point chalk in their second outing. The Gators reached the Elite Eight with a thrilling 83-74 OT victory over Fredette-mania and the BYU Cougars last time out. [ Are you better than 12-2 ATS this Madness? The Gators have a lot of depth, and are 8-1-1 ATS over their last 10 games. This team won two national championships and defeated Butler in the Big Dance in 2007 – the year of their last title. Expect Florida to get most of the attention on the college hoops betting lines for this matchup, but Butler is accustomed to the underdog role and must not be taken lightly.

The OVER has cashed in 12 of the Gators' last 14 games, including three in the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Butler has sent UNDER bettors to the payout window in seven of nine games in totals betting.

Arizona (30-7 SU, 19-15-1 ATS) knocked off defending champion Duke in the Sweet 16 to advance to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2005. The Wildcats' next opponents are Kemba Walker and the UConn Huskies, who are 3-point favorites at Sportsbook.ag in evening college hoops betting action.

Led by Derrick Williams the Wildcats stunned Duke by 16 points, and they could be an excellent underdog wager for a third straight NCAA Tournament game.

UConn has provided its share of upsets in recent weeks, its last coming as a 2-point underdog against San Diego State in the Sweet 16. Walker tossed in a school-record 36 points to lead the Huskies (29-9 SU, 21-11 ATS), who also knocked off Bucknell and Cincinnati - covering the spread in all three games so far in the Big Dance.

These are two teams that were not expected to be in this position at this stage of the NCAA Tournament, and it’s anyone’s game. The betting lines should see a fairly even split, while totals betting could see plenty of OVER wagers with the way these teams have been taking it to the boards and scoring points in the tourney.
