Sweet 16 Has Been Unkind to Hoosiers

The Indiana Hoosiers will attempt to win a Sweet 16 game for the first time since 2002 when they face the North Carolina Tar Heels in Philadelphia Friday evening. The Hoosiers have been in that spot twice since that ’02 run (2012, 2013) and will look to end that drought as 6.5-point underdogs.

Shark Bites
  • Indiana is 4-0 ATS (3-1 SU) in its last four games versus UNC.
  • Indiana is 2-6 SU/ATS in its last eight games versus the ACC.
  • Insiana is 6-1 ATS in its last seven non-conference games.

The Hoosiers have been a perfect bet through two games entering the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. They defeated Chattanooga 99-74 as 11-point favorites in the Round of 64 before dropping the Kentucky Wildcats 73-67 as 3.5-point underdogs Saturday.

Senior guard Yogi Ferrell is averaging 19 points, seven assists and three rebounds per game through the Hoosiers’ first two games and has just three turnovers to his credit.

The Tar Heels started slowly versus Florida Gulf Coast in their Sportsbook contest, but pulled away in the second half for a 83-67 win. They just missed an ATS win as 22.5-point faves, but did cover the -11 in their next matchup with a 85-66 drubbing of the Providence Friars.

Brice Johnson has been the talk of the tourney for many as he’s averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and five blocks in the Heels’ Sportsbook games. The Heels have been an excellent bet over the last couple of weeks, posting a 5-1 ATS mark in their last six games overall.
