Kentucky vs. Wake Forest Betting Preview

Kentucky are the heavy favorites in their game against Wake Forest, but the Demon Deacons come into this game with confidence after beating a solid Texas team in the first round and killing the Longhorns on the boards.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (20-10) vs. Kentucky Wildcats (33-2)

Bovada has Kentucky as 9-point favorites in this game with a total of 143.5.

This season Kentucky is 17-15 ATS and Wake Forest is 15-11-1 ATS.

Tonight in a second round game in the East Region the top-seed Kentucky Wildcats take on the ninth seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Wake will have to play solid defense against a Kentucky team that averages 79.2 ppg, scored 100 points in their first round games, and is one of the most athletic teams in the nation.

In their opening round games in the Big Dance Kentucky beat crushed East Tennessee State 100-71 and Wake Forest beat Texas 81-80 in a barnburner.

Kentucky will really have to worry about Wake on the boards, as in their opening round win over Texas the Demon Deacons out-rebounded Texas by 25 and they grabbed 20 offensive rebounds.

The Wildcats are led by the trio of future NBA players in PG John Wall (16.9 ppg) and forwards DeMarcus Cousins (15 ppg 10 rpg) and Patrick Patterson (14.9 ppg).

In their win over East Tennessee the Wildcats were draining the three-pointer like there was no tomorrow hitting on 15/33 of their long balls for a scoring three-point FG% of 45.5%. The Demon Deacons have to play good perimeter defense and not allow Kentucky to bomb away from deep.

Wake Forest only has two players that are averaging in double figures led by Al-Farouq Aminu (15.8 ppg 10.8 rpg), but they have a few players that are averaging around nine ppg.

Al-Farouq Aminu will have to have a great game on both offense and defense, especially on the boards, for the Demon Deacons to pull off the upset. He had 20 points and 15 boards in the win over Texas and he may have to duplicate those stats to beat Kentucky.

The Demon Deacons have to hold onto the rock in this game, as in the Texas win they had 20 turnovers.

Kentucky likes to get out and run and Wake Forest will need to slow them down to have any chance in this game.

Wake Forrest is 4-0 ATS in their last four games as an underdog and Kentucky are 4-1 ATS in their last five non-conference games.
