March Madness Betting Results
If watching your bracket was a rollercoaster ride last week, watching your March Madness bets was just as much of a thrill ride. Or, depending on how you did, just as likely to make you sick and vomit. Day 1 was the day to bet underdogs, as they went 11-5 ATS. If you were clever enough to see that Ohio upset of Georgetown happening, you could have made a small fortune on the moneyline at Bovada.

Robert Morris nearly took out Villanova, Lehigh covered Kansas (just barely as they lost by 24 on a 25-point spread) and BYU needed OT to cover the spread against Florida, or it could have been 12-4 ATS. There were no big secrets or trends on Day 1 total betting as the betting split almost perfectly (9-7 favoring the OVER). Day 2 saw no such trend on betting sides, but the UNDER became the popular and profitable bet of the day. While faves and dogs were splitting the 16 games 8-8, UNDER bettors were laughing all the way to a 11-5 edge at the sportsbook.
On Day 3, the favorites edged the underdogs 5-3 behind Kentucky, Kansas State, Washington, Tennessee and Baylor. But man, did the dogs bite hard in those three losses. Northern Iowa upset top seed Kansas and St. Mary’s put the same beat-down on No. 2 seed Villanova. Murray State nearly upset Butler, but fell 54-52 and covered a 4-point spread against the Bulldogs. Total bettors split 4-4 on Day 3 and it was 5-3 favoring the OVER on Day 4; hardly any trends of significance to be found there. No team was favored by more than 7 at Bovada on Day 4 and betting split 4-4 with heavyweights West Virginia, Syracuse, Ohio State and Duke all covering point spreads.
Michigan State, Xavier and Purdue all won as small underdogs and Cornell put some big red in bettor’s bankrolls by upsetting Wisconsin.
