Midwest Regional Betting Preview

The Midwest Regional didn’t skimp on quality this year. They’ve got the No. 1 overall seed in the Tournament, a long list of big-name programs, and some of this year’s top Cinderella candidates. Brackets will be busted.

Thursday, March 18

Ford Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

7:10 p.m.

No. 8 UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (-1 at Bovada) vs. No. 9 Northern Iowa Panthers

This is an evenly matched defensive battle between the slow Rebels and the even slower Panthers. The total is already down from 116.5 to 113.5.

9:30 p.m.
No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks (-25.5) vs. No. 16 Lehigh Mountain Hawks

Kansas covered four of its last five games, but finished the season 6-11 ATS when favored by more than 12 points. Lehigh is 3-0 ATS this year, all in March.

Dunkin' Donuts Center, Providence, Rhode Island

7:25 p.m.
No. 3 Georgetown Hoyas (-13) vs. No. 14 Ohio Bobcats

Georgetown played the toughest schedule of any Division I team, while Ohio won the MAC tourney as the No. 9 seed. The Bobcats are 11-1 ATS in their last 12.

9:45 p.m.
No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers (-3) vs. No. 11 San Diego State Aztecs

The Vols are 5-11 ATS over the past two months. The Aztecs (8-4 ATS in their last dozen) have a major advantage on the offensive glass in this matchup.

Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, Spokane, Washington

7:20 p.m.
No. 5 Michigan State Spartans (-13.5) vs. No. 12 New Mexico State Aggies [ watch line moves at Bovada ]

Michigan State commits turnovers on 21.3 percent of possessions (No. 222 in Division I) and finished the year 12-19 ATS. The Aggies upset Nevada (-5.5) and Utah State (-10) to win the WAC.

9:40 p.m.
No. 4 Maryland Terrapins (-9) vs. No. 13 Houston Cougars

Maryland is 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS this past month; the Cougars ran the table 4-0 SU and ATS to win the Conference USA.

Bradley Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

7:15 p.m.
No. 7 Oklahoma State Cowboys (-1.5) vs. No. 10 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Cowboys have some glaring weaknesses in offensive rebounding and perimeter defense. Georgia Tech is turnover-prone, but otherwise the better team in this matchup.

9:35 p.m.
No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (-17) vs. No. 15 UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos

The Buckeyes are undeniably talented, but also one of the least consistent teams in Division I. The Gauchos could steal the cash with their 37.8-percent shooting from downtown.
