NCAAB: Syracuse vs. Villanova

College basketball betting is ripe for the picking on Saturday, and it all gets underway with a matinee between seventh-ranked Villanova (16-2 SU, 9-5 ATS) and third-ranked Syracuse, who will be home favorites in this contest.

Syracuse (18-1 SU, 5-10 ATS) is undefeated at home with a 13-0 mark this season, but will face another big challenge in the Wildcats after losing its first of the season to Connecticut this week.

The Orange gunned down the Wildcats 95-77 in their only meeting last season, but has only covered the pointspread in one of the previous four head-to-head matchups. Villanova is 7-3 against Syracuse in their past 10 games, but are also coming off a loss against highly-ranked Pittsburgh.

Syracuse will draw the lion’s share of attention on college basketball betting lines, but pointspread bettors will like Villanova to cover against the spread.

No. 1 Ohio State (19-0 SU, 8-8 ATS) will put its undefeated record on the line when they travel to play Illinois (14-5 SU, 9-8 ATS), which is perfect after 10 home games. Something has to give.

Oddsmakers will likely give the Buckeyes a slight edge with its overall record and three straight head-to-head victories against the Fighting Illini. Illinois has lost two of three and needs its best game of the season to pull off the home upset.

While Ohio State is undefeated, they have had close encounters and it’s their strong defense that gives them a chance to win every game. [ Ohio State vs Illinois Matchup Stats and Odds ]

The smart money will be on national contenders Ohio State, but Illinois has covered the pointspread in four of the last six matchups and is 7-4 ATS at home this season. Seven of ten head-to-head contests have made winners of UNDER bettors.

Later in the afternoon, it’s second-ranked Kansas who plays host to road underdog and tenth-ranked Texas (15-3 SU, 10-2 ATS) in college basketball betting action.

Kansas (18-0 SU, 7-8 ATS) was put to the test against Nebraska last weekend, but hasn't really had any threats from anyone else in the past five encounters. The Longhorns are formidable opponents, having only lost to Connecticut in their past five games.

The Jayhawks have taken three straight from the Longhorns, and will be the popular choice with bettors on the college basketball lines for this game. Kansas  also covered the spread in those three victories.

Totals betting between these two has favored OVER bettors in the past, and with Kansas' fifth-ranked offense that scores over 80 points per game on the road it could be a good wager for this matchup as well.

Pointspread bettors will have to consider that Texas is 4-1 ATS on the road thus far, while Kansas is only 2-3 at home against the spread.
