NCAAB Futures: Kentucky Favored

The championship roster of the Kentucky Wildcats is likely to face a lot of upheaval this spring, but that hasn't prevented them from being listed as the favorites at the sportsbooks to win the NCAA Tournament once again in 2013.

The Wildcats closed out their season with a 67-59 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks, paying out on the March Madness odds with that title game win. Kentucky had previously rolled through Western Kentucky, Iowa State, Indiana, Baylor, and Louisville at the Big Dance.

Anthony Davis was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player despite being held to just six points by Kansas in the championship game; Davis grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked six shots in that contest.

Doron Lamb was good for 22 points for the Wildcats against the Jayhawks, with Marquis Teague scoring 14 points, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist chipping in with 11 points. Terrence Jones had nine points and seven boards on the night for Kentucky.

Davis, Kidd-Gilchrist, Lamb, Teague, and Jones could all end up being taken in the NBA Draft this summer, but Kentucky head coach John Calipari has a strong recruitment record and is expected to be able to replenish his team with new additions.

And that's why Kentucky is the +600 favorite at BetOnline on the opening odds to win the 2013 NCAA Tournament despite the looming losses of Davis and company.

Kansas is at +1750 on that college basketball futures list, while Final Four losers Louisville and Ohio State sit at +925 and +1000, respectively. Baylor, which was bounced by Kentucky in the Elite Eight, is also near the top of the futures list at +900.

Other notable schools near the top of the opening 2013 March Madness futures include Indiana (+1000), North Carolina (+1000), Syracuse (+1100), Michigan (+1200), Wisconsin (+1400), Duke (+1500), and North Carolina State (+1500).
