NCAAB Odds: 2015 NIT Betting Preview

The 2015 NIT hits the quarterfinal round this week with four matchups on tap for Tuesday night and Wednesday night as No. 1 Old Dominion faces No. 3 Murray State, No. 1 Richmond takes on No. 2 Miami, No. 1 Temple does battle with No. 3 Louisiana Tech, and No. 5 Vanderbilt meets No. 2 Stanford.

The winners of those games then move on to the semifinals, which will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York on March 31. The championship game is then set for April 2.

Old Dominion, Richmond, Temple, and Colorado State didn't make the cut for the 2015 NCAA Tournament, but they're the four top seeds for the 2015 National Invitation Tournament with first-round betting action taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Old Dominion will take on Charleston Southern in their first game of the 2015 NIT, with their quarter of the bracket also featuring Illinois State vs. Green Bay, Tulsa vs. William & Mary, and Murray State vs. UTEP. Richmond gets St. Francis Brooklyn in the first round; the other games in their section of the bracket are Connecticut vs. Arizona State, Miami vs. North Carolina Central, and Illinois vs. Alabama.

Temple's opening opponent at the 2015 NIT is Bucknell, with the three other games in their part of the bracket Pittsburgh vs. George Washington, Texas A&M vs. Montana, and Louisiana Tech vs. Central Michigan. Top-seeded Colorado State faces South Dakota State to highlight the bracket section rounded out by Saint Mary's vs. Vanderbilt, Stanford vs. UC Davis, and Rhode Island vs. Iona.

Second-round NIT betting action takes place from March 20-23, with the quarterfinals on March 24 and 25, and the semifinals on March 31. The championship game of the NIT will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 2. Find NIT betting lines this month at Bovada.

SMU didn't make it into the field for the NCAA Tournament this year, so instead they'll be a top seed at the National Invitation Tournament this month with that college basketball betting event getting underway on Tuesday night.

Tuesday's first-round NIT betting matchups are Arkansas vs. Indiana State, St. John's vs. Robert Morris, Green Bay vs. Belmont, Clemson vs. Georgia State, Minnesota vs. High Point, St. Mary's vs. Utah, Missouri vs. Davidson, Florida State vs. FGCU, and Georgetown vs. West Virginia.

On Wednesday it'll then be SMU vs. UC Irvine, San Francisco vs. LSU, California vs. Utah Valley, Illinois vs. Boston University, Southern Miss vs. Toledo, Louisiana Tech vs. Iona, and Georgia vs. Vermont.

The Kentucky Wildcats didn't make the NCAA Tournament this season, so instead they'll try to pay off on the NIT betting lines at the sportsbooks as that secondary college basketball event gets underway this week.

And since the Wildcats' home arena is being used for March Madness, they'll play on the road against Robert Morris at the Charles L. Sewall Center in their first-round NIT matchup on Tuesday despite the fact that they are the top seed at the tournament.

Other NIT betting matchups on tap for Tuesday include St. John's at St. Joseph's, Niagara at Maryland, Louisiana Tech at Florida State, Northeastern at Alabama, Norfolk State at Virginia, Ohio at Denver, Washington at BYU, and Stephen F. Austin at Stanford.

On Wednesday it's then Indiana State at Iowa, Stony Brook at Massachusetts, Charlotte at Providence, Mercer at Tennessee, Long Beach State at Baylor, Charleston Southern at Southern Miss, and Detroit at Arizona State.

Second-round NIT betting action takes place from March 21-25, with the quarterfinals on March 26 and 27, and the semifinals on April 2. The championship game of the NIT will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 4.

Ohio State (2008), Penn State (2009), Dayton (2010), Wichita State (2011), and Stanford (2012) are the past five champions of the National Invitation Tournament.

NIT betting gets underway on Tuesday this week, with top seeds Washington, Tennessee, and Seton Hall all hitting the hardwood on the college hoops lines in first-round action at the tourney.

Washington (-8.5) will host Texas Arlington on Tuesday, while Tennessee (-15.5) takes on Savannah State, and Seton Hall (-12.5) battles Stony Brook. The other No. 1 seed at the event, Arizona (-8), will host Bucknell on Wednesday.

Other NIT games on tap for college basketball betting on Tuesday are Akron at Northwestern (-5), LSU at Oregon (-7), Dayton at Iowa (-3), Marshall at Middle Tennessee (-4.5), UMass at Mississippi State (-7.5), and Cleveland State at Stanford (-6).

The rest of Wednesday's schedule is then Minnesota at La Salle (-4), Valparaiso at Miami, UCF at Drexel (-6.5), UNI at St. Joseph's (-5.5), Nevada at Oral Roberts (-5.5), and Illinois State at Ole Miss (-5.5).

Second-round action at the NIT will take place on March 15-19, with the tournament's quarterfinals on March 20-21. The semifinals are then on the schedule for March 27, with the championship game set for Madison Square Garden on March 29.
