NCAAB Power Rankings: March 7

The Big 12 remains on top of the college basketball Power Rankings as the Texas Longhorns and the Kansas Jayhawks retained their hold on the first two spots.

Despite slumping to end the season no one has been able to knock the Longhorns out of the top spot. Texas went 2-3 both SU and ATS in their final five games, but their strong offensive and defensive numbers still have them at No. 1 after the computer tabulated all the data.

That may change by next week, though. The No. 2 Jayhawks could unseat Texas if they can take the Big 12 tournament. Kansas finished the regular season on a five-game winning streak and they also won 11 of their last 12 games. They're the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament and everyone's hoping for a Kansas vs. Texas showdown in the final, especially after they split the season series with the underdog winning both games.

While the top three in the rankings remains the same this week, with the Pittsburgh Panthers still locked in at No. 3, there has been some movement in the rest of the Top 5. In are Kentucky at No. 4 and Duke at No. 5, while former No. 4 and 5, BYU and North Carolina, dropped to No. 8 and No. 7, respectively. The Wildcats won their last three games, but haven't been a good betting option at 2-4-1 ATS in their last seven outings.

The Blue Devils' rise up the rankings continued despite a loss to the Tar Heels in their regular season finale. Totals bettors could have been riding a winning streak on Duke if they had stuck with the UNDER lately. The Blue Devils are 9-1 UNDER in their last 10, and since most of those games were versus ACC opponents those trends could continue in their conference tournament this week.

Only one new team found its way into the Top 25 this week - the Kansas State Wildcats made a huge leap to No. 17 after being ranked out of the Top 25 a week ago. Kansas State is a solid 6-1 in their last seven games, and in their last three games as the underdog they are 3-0 both SU and ATS. With wins over Texas and Kansas already this season they could be a darkhorse in the Big 12 Tournament.
