McKale Center Has Been Oregon State’s Nightmare

The Oregon State Beavers have been a largely mediocre basketball program for nearly 30 years and no place has provided more anguish for the team than the McKale Center. Oregon State has won just once in Tucson since 1983 and even that one victory came eight years ago. The Beavers will look to get the monkey off their back when they visit the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday.

Shark Bites
  • Arizona G Allonzo Trier has scored a combined 15 points in the last 2 games.
  • Arizona is 2-7-1 ATS in its last 10 games as a favorite of 15.0 or less.
  • Oregon State is 0-14 SU in its last 14 games on the road.

The Wildcats will surely come into this game with a chip on their shoulder after being upset by Colorado in their most recent outing. Defense was once again Arizona’s Achilles heel, as the team surrendered 80 points and allowed the Buffaloes to shoot 54.7 percent. Of course, all eyes will be on projected lottery pick Deandre Ayton, who has scored at least 23 points in four of the past five games.

Oregon State’s shift to a zone defense has helped them on the defensive end recently with the Beavers holding four of their past five opponents under 70 points. Controlling the boards will be the key to success for Oregon State facing off against the mammoth Ayton. The forward combination of Tres Tinkle and Drew Eubanks is good enough at collecting rebounds but the team still needs more consistency in that aspect from the frontcourt.
