Scoring Slows, OVER Bets Pick Up In College Hoops

Scoring started off with some fireworks in college hoops in 2016 thanks to some new rule adjustments. 

Through the first week, college basketball averaged 148.7 points per game, which was up about two points from the average for November last season. Oddsmakers actually overcompensated for things early on and the UNDER has been a profitable venture at 52.7 percent up to Dec. 12 (456-508-13 OVER/UNDER). 

What bettors will want to take note of, though, is that scoring appears to be stabilizing and more OVER bets are cashing in. Scoring has leveled off during the past two weeks and that has actually resulted in more games going OVER lately.   

The OVER cashed in at 53.1 percent last week and 51.4 percent the week before. Those came on the heels of a couple of big UNDER weeks in college hoops and you can see the trend here. 

It’s something to keep an eye on as you place your college basketball totals bets throughout the month of December.  Here's a look at how scoring has gone by week this season:
