Iowa Struggling To Cover the Spread

There was a point in the season when Iowa looked like the best team in the nation, but the Hawkeyes seemingly feel apart down the stretch. Iowa is heading into the NCAA Tournament going just 2-6 SU and 1-7 ATS in their previous eight outings. Iowa will meet the streaking Temple Owls in the Round of 64 on Friday.

Shark Bites
  • Iowa is 1-4 SU and ATS in their past five games after losing as a favorite.
  • Temple is 8-0 SU in their past eight games following a loss.
  • Temple is 7-2 ATS in their past nine games as underdogs of seven points or less.

The downward spiral began near the beginning of February for Iowa, as the team started clanking shots all over. All-American Jarrod Uthoff was at the center of the problem with the senior shooting just 40 percent over the past eight compared to nearly 50 percent through the first 22 games. At this point it seems we just don’t know who Iowa is.

Temple closed out their season by winning 10 of their final 13 with two of those losses coming against tournament teams. The Owls have been accustomed to playing in close contests as they have averaged just a point more than they have allowed all season.
