Clemson Simply Does Not Lose In September

With an easy 56-3 victory over Kent State in their season opener, Clemson has continued an impressive streak of early season dominance. The Tigers have won nine straight games in September, with their last loss coming back in 2014. Clemson will face undoubtedly their most difficult non-conference opponent in years when they host the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.

Shark Bites
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Clemson’s last 6 games against Auburn.
  • Auburn is 0-3 SU in its last 3 games against Clemson.
  • Auburn tallied just 262 offensive yards with 3 turnovers against Clemson last season.

It’s hard to read much into Clemson’s season opener, as Kent State clearly just wanted to get through the pseudo exhibition in one piece. However, new starting quarterback Kelly Bryant looked the part by completing 16 of 22 passes for 236 yards while adding 77 yards on the ground. The offense did amass 665 yards, which should ease some concerns about replacing so many key players on that side of the ball.

Auburn looked much like their 2016 version in their season opener, as the team will pound the rock and play stellar defense. Despite playing without Kamryn Pettway and dealing with an injury to Kerryon Johnson early in the game, Auburn rushed for 351 yards and three touchdowns. The defense forced five sacks and 12 tackles for a loss and picked off a pass. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham didn’t look fantastic but that can be expected from a player who has not seen the field in over 650 days.
