Betting line favors Gamecocks over Knights
|South Carolina Gamecocks||Central Florida Knight|
No. 12 South Carolina step back out of SEC play for a dangerous non-conference road game against 3-0 Central Florida in Orlando Saturday afternoon (noon ET, ABC).
As of early this week the Gamecocks, coming off a dominating win over Vanderbilt, were favored by seven points over Coach O'Leary's Knights, who already own an upset of Penn State this season.
The power rankings show a disparity between these teams, with the Knights rated this week at No. 10 and the Gamecocks sitting at No. 40. It may or may not play a role in OddsShark score prediction models that turned out a 47-29 result in favor of the Knights this week.
Storm Johnson ran through the Penn State defense for 117 yards in Central Florida's last game, handing the Nittany Lions a 34-31 setback on Saturday at Beaver Stadium.
How They Match Up:
The game also pits Central Florida's No. 44-ranked offense, averaging 36.67 PPG, against a Gamecocks defense that ranks No. 67 this week at 25.33 PPG. The Knights aerial game is averaging 277.33 yards per game, more than the Gamecocks secondary allows through the air, 216.67 YPG per game.
In comparing defenses, the Gamecocks own the league's No. 28-rated front 7 in terms of stopping the run, allowing 112 yards per game when on the road. Central Florida, on the other hand, rates No. 89 this week in generating rushing yards at home.
