Big 12 2011 Odds Preview

The Big 12 consists of 10 teams now that Colorado and Nebraska have bolted, so one of the first conferences to adopt the divisional format with a league championship game now goes back to a round-robin schedule. This year's crown could be decided on the last day of the season, when Oklahoma visits Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma Sooners (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 4/9)

OU, conference champs seven of the last 11 seasons, opens this season as the No. 1-ranked team in the land. The Sooners return eight starters on both sides of the ball from a team that won the Big 12 again  last year, including QB Landry Jones (38/12 TD/INT ratio last year), four along the o-line, and six of the defensive front seven. Oklahoma gets Missouri and Texas A&M at home before ending the regular season at OK State.

Texas A&M Aggies (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 5/1)

The Aggies get back a league-high 18 starters after going 6-2 in the conference last year, including 10 on an offense that averaged 442 YPG, four along the o-line, and eight on defense. And while A&M has to play at Oklahoma, they get OK State, Missouri, and Texas at home.

Texas Longhorns (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 13/2)

After playing in the national championship game two years ago Texas went through a rebuilding season last year and lost six conference games. This year the Longhorns return six starters on both sides of the ball, but they'll need improvement from QB Garrett Gilbert (10/17 TD/INT). Texas gets OK State at home, but plays at Missouri and A&M.

Oklahoma State Cowboys (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 9/1)

OSU returns 14 starters from a team that went in 6-2 in the conference last year, led by nine on an offense that put up 44 PPG. They lose RB Kendall Hunter, but get back QB Brandon Weeden (34/13 TD/INT), WR Justin Blackmon, and the entire o-line. Only five are back on defense, though, and while they get Oklahoma at home they have to play at A&M, Texas, and Missouri.

Missouri Tigers (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 14/1)

Mizzou loses QB Blaine Gabbert but returns 15 starters from a 6-2 Big 12 team of last year. They get OK State and Texas at home, but play at Oklahoma and A&M.

Baylor Bears (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 18/1)

Baylor has 14 starters back, including nine on offense, from a team that went 4-4 in the conference last year and made its first bowl appearance since 1994.

Texas Tech Red Raiders (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 20/1)

The Raiders return seven starters on both sides of the ball for their second season under head coach Tommy Tuberville.

Kansas State Wildcats (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 35/1)

Kansas State gets back 13 starters after going 3-5 in the conference last year.

Iowa State Cyclones (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 100/1)

ISU returns 12 starters, seven on defense, after going 3-5 in the conference last year.

Kansas Jayhawks (Odds to Win Big 12 at Bovada 150/1)

The Jayhawks have 15 starters back after going 1-7 in the conference in their first season under head coach Turner Gill.
