Big Ten College Football Betting

After the Wolverines fell to Michigan State last week, oddsmakers seemingly lost confidence in them with most sportsbooks installing them as 3-point home underdogs to Big Ten rival Iowa.

It's one of several key matches where Big Ten betting odds are the focus of college football betting attention in Week 7.

Ricky Stanzi and the Hawkeyes, who average 250-plus passing yards per game, have a decent shot to take advantage of Michigan’s suspect secondary this week. Stanzi is third in the country in passing efficiency. On the other side of the ball, Iowa will look to copy Michigan State’s strategy of forcing Denard Robinson to pass instead of making plays with his feet.

Hawkeyes senior middle linebacker Jeff Tarpinian could miss the game with a neck stinger but Iowa has the nation’s top-ranked scoring defense and should get the job done with or without him.

Pick Iowa to grind out a road win on the strength of its defense. As for the over/under, which is set around 54 points at most books, the UNDER could be the choice with Iowa ready to play shutdown D and hand the rock off to Adam Robinson.

Arkansas vs Auburn Odds

Should bettors expect a wild shootout between No. 12 Arkansas and No. 7 Auburn? Most sportsbooks have the total posted as high as 60.5 points. [ {URL=/Stats/Matchup/Football/NCAAF/27787}Matchup Report {/URL} | Bet the Razorbacks at +3.5 now at Sportsbook.ag ]

Most betting sharps would say yes, bet OVER the total, as Saturday’s matchup features an amazing quarterback showdown.

Both Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett and Auburn’s Cameron Newton have been outstanding this season and both are right in the thick of the Heisman Trophy race. Though Mallett led the Razorbacks to a great upset at Georgia earlier this year, his team is still a 3.5-point underdog against the unbeaten Auburn Tigers.

Bettors should consider leaning Arkansas’ way. The Razorbacks can match Auburn offensively but are the superior defensive squad, allowing the 13th-fewest points per game in the country. They also have no new major injuries, whereas Auburn could be without linebacker Eltoro Freeman, receiver DeAngelo Benton, and offensive lineman Roszell Gayden.

Ohio State vs Wisconsin Odds

Ohio State took over the nation’s No. 1 rank after Alabama lost last week and oddsmakers have shown their confidence in the new top dogs, favoring the Buckeyes by four points in a tough road matchup against 18th-ranked Wisconsin.

The over/under is set at just under 50 points at most books for this matchup. Ohio State has the third-ranked defense in the country but oddsmakers still believe the offensive star power on either side will lead to some scoring. Terrell Pryor has really matured as a quarterback; he has 15 touchdown passes and just three interceptions this season.

Wisconsin has a workhorse running back in John Clay, who averages six yards per carry, and a great offensive line. [ {URL=/Stats/Matchup/Football/NCAAF/27813}Matchup Report {/URL} | Bet the Buckeyes at -5.5 now at Bovada ]

Wisconsin will keep this game close, but Pryor’s athleticism and the Buckeyes’ great defense should help them cover the four points and edge Wisconsin on the road. Since Wisconsin’s solid run defense could keep Pryor in the pocket, bettors shouldn’t expect a huge shootout. The UNDER could be the safer bet.
