The battle for position in the BCS standings rages on with just a few weeks left for teams to make their mark, but we are focusing all our attention on the matchups that can provide a big return for anyone who enjoys wagering on the games.
To help get you ready for all of the action in Week 11 of the college football season, the following is a preview of the biggest line moves, biggest underdogs, and biggest battles on this week’s slate of games.
Biggest College Football Line Moves - Week 11
Georgia Tech waxed Maryland last week 33-13 as a 7-point road favorite but the betting public is obviously not impressed by the 4-5 Yellow Jackets’ victory especially since the Terrapins were down to starting their fifth quarterback of the season. North Carolina opened as a 5.5-point home favorite for this Saturday’s ACC showdown, but that spread has been pushed to 9 points at 5Dimes over the course of the week.
No. 16 Nebraska opened as an 8.5-point home favorite against Penn State, but the early money has been on the Lions to lower the current spread to 7. This is no real surprise considering the incredible parity this season between most of the teams in the Big Ten.
The No. 7 LSU Tigers will try and rebound from last week’s heart-breaking loss to No. 1 Alabama when they face No. 21 Mississippi State this week in a SEC clash. The Tigers opened as 17-point home favorites, but the betting public must believe that the Bulldogs will keep things closer than that by driving the line down to 14.5 points.
Biggest College Football Underdogs - Week 11
If you are looking to take a flyer on a couple of huge spreads this week you might want to start with Idaho heading on the road to face BYU as a 38.5-point road underdog at 5Dimes. This has not been one of the Cougars' better seasons at 5-4 both straight-up and against the spread but they are still far more talented than a Vandals team that is 1-8 SU and ATS.
Another big dog on the road is Maryland +31.5-points against No. 13 Clemson. We already talked about the Terrapins’ issues at quarterback but the Tigers are also that good to easily justify the spread.
The biggest underdog list would be incomplete if Colorado did not make its weekly appearance. This week, the 1-8 Buffaloes are currently listed as 30.5-point road underdogs against Arizona. Be careful with the points on this one as Colorado has covered just once in its last seven games as a double-digit dog.
Biggest College Football Battles - Week 11
The biggest battle on this week’s schedule has No. 15 Texas A&M on the road as a 13.5-point underdog at 5Dimes against No. 1 Alabama. This is the Tide’s last potential stumbling block before the SEC title game.
The only other game involving ranks teams in a head-to-head matchup besides Mississippi State at LSU sends No. 11 Oregon State on the road to square off against No. 14 Stanford in a Pac-12 matchup. The Cardinal are currently favored by 4.5 points.
