Biggest College Football Bets - Week 8
The college football season heads into its second half with plenty of big showdowns between major conference heavyweights on Week 8’s slate, but we remain focused on the matchups that have the potential to provide a big payday for anyone who enjoys wagering on the games.
To get you ready for all the action, here is a look at the biggest line moves, biggest underdogs, and biggest battles for this week’s slate of games. All lines quoted are provided by TopBet.
Biggest College Football Line Moves - Week 8
No. 19 Clemson opened as an 11-point home favorite over Virginia Tech for this Saturday’s ACC matchup but that line has been pared down to 8 points. This seems like a golden opportunity to jump all over the Tigers considering that the Hokies have lost three road games this season by a combined 35 points.
Ohio State is clearly the class of the Big Ten this season while Purdue was grossly overrated before losing its last two games at home by a combined 55 points. The Buckeyes opened as 14.5-point home favorites for this Saturday’s showdown in Columbus but that spread has ballooned to 19 points.
Louisville debuted at No. 16 in the initial BCS poll and has been one of the top teams in the Big East this season. This Saturday the Cardinals square off against a South Florida Bulls team that has gotten off to a 2-4 start. Bettors are clearly not convinced that Louisville is that good and the Bulls are that bad; moving the Cardinals from 9-point favorites to 6.5-point favorites at home.
Biggest College Football Underdogs - Week 8
Considering that we are in Week 8 of the season and deep into the conference schedules, it is rather surprising to see some of the huge spreads that are on the board. No. 10 USC tops the list as a prohibitive 41-point home favorite against the hapless Colorado Buffaloes in this Pac-12 matchup.
Turning to the Big 12, the No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners have been opened as 35-point home favorites against a Kansas Jayhawks team that is 1-5 overall and still looking for its first conference win.
Utah State is favored by 30.5 points in a Western Athletic clash against New Mexico State, and in another matchup in the WAC the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are favored by 30.5 points at home against Idaho.
No. 22 Boise State has been opened as a 28-point home favorite against UNLV in a battle between one of the best teams in the Mountain West and one of the worst.
Biggest College Football Battles - Week 8
The SEC features the first head-to-head matchup of ranked teams on Saturday’s slate when the No. 6 LSU Tigers go on the road as 3.5-point favorites to face No. 18 Texas A&M in a 12 p.m. start. That game should provide the perfect warmup for the SEC’s main event: No.7 South Carolina vs. No. 2 Florida. The Gamecocks head to Gainesville as 3.5-point underdogs in a game that will have major BCS implications. The kickoff for this monster clash is set for 3:30 p.m.
Two showdowns between ranked teams in the Big 12 feature No. 17 Texas Tech visiting No. 23 TCU as a 1-point favorite in a 3:30 p.m. start and No. 4 Kansas State vs. No. 13 West Virginia on Saturday night. The Mountaineers are favored by 2.5 points at home over the Wildcats.
