Clemson on 9-Game Division Winning Streak

The Clemson Tigers did not get off to the start they were hoping for but seemed to get the train back on the track with their 59-0 dismantling of South Carolina State last weekend. They will face their second test of the season on Thursday as they take on ACC rival Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

SHARK BITES
  • Clemson is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games on the road against Georgia Tech.
  • Georgia Tech is 1-7 SU and ATS in its last 8 games against teams with winning records.
  • Clemson is 9-0 SU in its last 9 games against its conference.

The all-time ACC series between the Tigers and Yellow Jackets is 17-16 in favor of Clemson but it has been dead even since 2009 as these teams have split their last eight meetings. The Tigers took the last matchup 43-24 last October and opened as 10-point favorites for their upcoming contest with their cross-divisional rivals.

Although four of the Yellow Jackets’ last five games against ACC opponents have gone UNDER, they and the Tigers have combined for 65.75 points per game in their last four meetings. Clemson had the second-most total offensive yards in Division 1 football last year and seems to have figured things out with quarterback Deshaun Watson at the helm. He went 12 of 15 for 152 yards and three touchdowns after starting the season 46 of 87 with a 4:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Both teams have started the season a perfect 3-0 but neither has been great against the spread. Clemson got its first ATS victory of the year last week and is a dismal 2-7 ATS in its last nine games on the road.
