College Football Betting Picks - Week 9

There are a couple of huge matchups on this week’s schedule that should have a major impact on shaping the BCS rankings. We have dug deep into the numbers to come up with a couple top picks that could have a major impact on fattening your wallet.

The following are this week’s top two plays as well as a quick look at which teams the OddsShark Consensus is backing this week. All lines quoted have been provided by Sportsbook.

Pick of the Week

The North Carolina State Wolfpack are coming off a tight 20-18 road win over Maryland as a 4-point road favorite. They stay on the road this week but much closer to home with an in-state showdown against the rival North Carolina Tar Heels. The Wolfpack come in as 7.5-point underdogs at Sportsbook in a matchup they have dominated in recent years with a 5-0 record both straight-up and against the spread. The Tar Heels will need to quickly bounce back from last Saturday night’s stunning last-second loss to Duke as an 8.5-point road favorite. While they should be able to pull-out this win this week, stick with NC State to cover with the points.

It has been a rocky road for Michigan State this season with a 4-4 record SU and a costly 2-6 record ATS. The Spartans hung tough with Michigan last week in a tight loss as 8.5-point road underdogs, but their offense remained anemic with just 10 points. Wisconsin also struggled out of the gate but has returned to form with three straight victories both SU and ATS. The Badgers are favored by 6 points at home at Sportsbook in this Big Ten showdown with the total set at 40.5. Michigan State will be looking for revenge after losing last season’s conference championship game by three points in a 42-39 shootout, but unfortunately its offense will not be able to keep pace with the Badgers this time around to cover with the points.

The OddsShark Consensus

The top play in the eyes of the consensus this week at 72 percent has San Jose State covering the 20.5 points at home against Texas State. The second pick on the list this week has Louisiana Tech going on the road and covering a huge 30.5-point spread against New Mexico State at 71.4 percent.

A couple of the other top plays on the list which are also at 71.4 percent have SMU covering as a 21.5-point home favorite against Memphis at 71.4 percent and Utah State beating Texas-San Antonio by more than 23 points on the road. The top play on the total line has the Southern Miss at Rice matchup going OVER the 58-point line at 73.5 percent.

The Best of the Rest

There are four showdowns on this Saturday’s slate between ranked teams starting with an SEC clash between No. 2 Florida and No. 10 Georgia in which the Gators are favored by 7 points on the road at Sportsbook with the total set at 46.5. In another 3:30 p.m. start, the No. 14-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders square off against No. 3 Kansas State in a Big 12 showdown as 7.5-point underdogs on the road. The total is set at 60.5.

The featured bout on Saturday night pits the No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish against the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners in a game that has major implications for the BCS. The Sooners are favored by 11.5 points at home at Sportsbook and the total has been set at 47.5. The final game takes us to back to the SEC when No. 11 Mississippi State faces off against No. 1 Alabama as a 24-point road underdog. The total is set at 46 and kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m.
