College Football Betting: Week 10
Remember when the annual meeting between Florida State and Miami was a big deal? Sort of like Ohio State and Michigan, Alabama and Auburn, or Notre Dame and virtually everyone.
The Seminoles and The U used to mean something, on a grand scale. In the Sunshine State, the battle hasn't lost its luster. And this year, for college football's sake, the epic rivalry is back in the national spotlight with both teams sporting 7-0 records.
The third-ranked Seminoles are playing host to No. 7 Miami in Tallahassee on Saturday night, in a game that holds plenty of national championship implications, not to mention could go down as one of the biggest in the history of the storied rivalry.
Florida State has won the last three meetings by a combined 101-56 score, and oddly enough, oddsmakers at 5Dimes don't give the Hurricanes a chance, as the 'Noles are -21.5. Granted, the Seminoles have won their last three games by 63, 37, and 32 points, while Miami has trailed by double-digits in each of its last three games before rallying for victories each time out.
The Hurricanes have covered 10 of their last 13 going back to last season, while the Seminoles roll in on a 4-1 ATS streak at home. And within this series, the Hurricanes are on a 6-1 ATS win streak in Tallahassee, while the underdog has covered 13 of the last 16 meetings and the road team is on a 6-1 spread streak.
The Top 25 teams get started Thursday, when No. 25 Arizona State hopes to spook Washington State on Halloween. And while the Sun Devils are -11.5 in the Pac 12 clash, the home team has covered four straight.
Two more Top 25 battles highlight Saturday's card as 15th-ranked Texas Tech is laying -2.5 at home to No. 18 Oklahoma State, which has covered four straight in this series. And in the Great Lakes State battle, No. 24 Michigan State is laying -4.5 at home to No. 23 Michigan, which has lost five straight at the books in this clash.
