College Football Betting: Week 12
Four very interesting games involving Top 25 teams in college football are on tap this week, as we may be in store for more upsets.
The first one takes place Wednesday night in Dekalb, Ill., where No. 20 Northern Illinois plays host to Ball State, pitting the top two teams from the West Division of the MAC against each other.
Northern Illinois (9-0, 5-0 in the MAC) remains one of six teams undefeated this season, and for their efforts thus far, the Huskies are ranked No. 15 in the BCS Standings. Northern Illinois, which is -6.5 at 5Dimes, has won 22 of its last 23 games, and the Huskies bring a winning streak over MAC teams of 22 games overall and 14 straight on the road into Wednesday's contest. Ball State (9-1, 6-0) brings the 24th-best offense into the game.
The other three games of interest take place Saturday, beginning with No. 6 Oregon against Utah. There is no line on the game, and the Ducks are coming in after being humbled by Stanford last week. Stanford led 26-0 early in the fourth quarter and seemed on the way to a dominating victory, but Oregon scored the final 20 to make Stanford sweat. Nevertheless, keep in mind Utah beat Stanford earlier this season.
In SEC play, No. 7 Auburn hosts No. 25 Georgia, and the Tigers are the home favorite laying -4 points at 5Dimes. The Bulldogs are dealing with some key injuries in what might have been a premier chance for a solid upset. Tight end Jay Rome, who caught three passes last week in his first start of the season, is expected to miss the game after hurting his right foot in last week's 45-6 win over Appalachian State. Also nursing injuries are senior tight end Arthur Lynch (ribs) and receiver Chris Conley (sprained right ankle).
Finally, in Big 12 play, No. 12 Oklahoma State is laying -3 at No. 23 Texas, which no longer is hearing a thing about firing coach Mack Brown and comes in riding a six-game winning streak after losing two of its first three games.
