College Football Week 14 Potential Upsets

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will hit the gridiron on Saturday night for the last time this season, pegged as heavy 19-point underdogs at Bovada in their Rivalry Week matchup with the Duke Blue Devils.

With a 3-8 SU record, WFU’s bowl eligibility hopes faded weeks ago. But the Demon Deacons are coming off their first SU win in their last seven, outlasting Virginia Tech in double overtime, winning 6-3 as 13.5-point underdogs in the first Bowl Subdivision game to end regulation scoreless since 2005.

The win was also WFU’s third ATS win in their last four, moving them to 6-5 ATS on the season.

Matchup Reports: Wake Forest vs. Duke | Florida vs. Florida State

The 8-3 Blue Devils have faltered down the stretch, dropping their last two, SU and ATS, after opening the season 8-1 SU, 6-2-1 ATS.

The Blue Devils have averaged just 21 points per game in their last three, but have twice held opponents to fewer than 300 total yards in their last three, and have seen the point total finish UNDER in eight of their last 10.

While they will remain a solid moneyline bet against the Demon Deacons, it will be a tall order for them to cover such a large spread.

Duke has also struggled in recent meetings with their in-state rivals, entering Saturday afternoon’s Demon Deacons vs. Blue Devils game at Wallace Wade Stadium winless in their last five home dates against Wake Forest.

The 11-0 Florida State Seminoles will shoot for their 27th consecutive SU win when they take on the 6-4 Florida Gators as 7.5-point favorites in college football betting at Bovada.

The Noles have been a betting disappointment this season, 3-8 ATS with two of their ATS wins coming while favored by less than four.

FSU has been a notorious slow starter in recent outings, falling behind early by as much as 14 points in four of their last five.

It will be an emotional Gators squad that hits the gridiron on Saturday afternoon in coach Will Muschamp’s last game as Florida’s bench boss. A number of Gator players have been vocal about their displeasure with Muschamp’s recent ouster, giving them added incentive to ensure his tenure ends on a winning note.

While it is always risky to bet against a massive winning streak, the Gators’ passionate motivation, combined with their three solid SU and ATS wins in their last four, and a 4-1 SU record in their last five against FSU, make them an intriguing bet.
