The Virginia Cavaliers are 4-0 straight up and against the spread in their last four games played in September. The Cavaliers could continue their ATS success this Saturday hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Virginia is a 13-point underdog at home according to online sportsbook Sportsbook. This looks like a textbook trap game for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are coming off a 38-3 blowout win over the Texas Longhorns and face a key opponent next week against Georgia Tech.
Don't be surprised if the Fighting Irish overlook this game and get caught sleeping by this underrated Virginia team.
Lean Toward Ducks vs the Spartans
There are strong arguments to be made for both sides, but I keep finding myself leaning towards the Oregon Ducks as a 4-point underdog on Saturday at Michigan State.
The Spartans suffered two losses last year, both by double digits, at the hands of Oregon and Ohio State. Michigan State's defense couldn't hold up against a relentless speed attack, and I'm not sure there will be a difference this year. The Ducks are 3-0 ATS in their last three games against the Spartans.
As well, Appalachian State is a solid team in its own right with a 7-0 SU and 5-1-1 ATS record over its last seven games. But top to bottom, this team is no match for a team like the Clemson Tigers, who are my pick to win the ACC this year and potentially sneak into a playoff spot.
No one is going to overlook Appalachian State after the Michigan game back in 2008, either. Lay the chalk with Clemson at -17 at home.
Watch for Bulls to Cover vs Lions
The Buffalo Bulls going off at +21 on the road against Penn State this Saturday looks to me like a case of bettors looking at the history of these two schools instead of the present.
Buffalo is 3-0 SU and ATS over its last three games and Penn State is 3-7 SU over its last 10 games and 2-5 ATS over its last seven. The Bulls have a strong enough offense to keep this game respectable.
Lastly, take Georgia Tech -28.5 hosting Tulane. Tulane doesn't have the defense to slow down the Yellow Jackets nor the offense to keep up with them.
