[Fight Hunger Bowl Matchup Stats]
Both the UCLA Bruins and Illinois Fighting Illini played poorly enough down the stretch to get their head coaches fired, but one must win in this year’s Fight Hunger Bowl. UCLA had to be granted a waiver by the NCAA to play in a bowl with a losing record after losing in the Pac-12 Championship.
When the Bruins lost this year, they lost ugly; five of their seven losses were by 25 points or more. Illinois started the year off a perfect 6-0 SU (3-3 ATS), but finished the second half of the season 0-6 SU (2-4 ATS) averaging just 11 points per game over that stretch. Both teams trended heavily towards the UNDER on the year as the total went UNDER in all six of Illinois’ final six games and in six of UCLA’s final eight.
Senior A.J. Jenkins in the wide receiving corps was the star of the Illinois offense. Jenkins hauled in 84 catches for 1,196 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on the year. [ $100 free wager bonus - see the latest new customer bowl specials at ]

Boston College is appearing in its 12th consecutive bowl game by way of a five-game win streak to finish the season, but it’s the No. 13 Nevada Wolf Pack who are 7.5-point favorites in the Fight Hunger bowl odds.

It’s no wonder the NCAAF odds set for this matchup favor the Wolf Pack, who are expected to chew apart the Eagles. Nevada captured a share of the WAC conference with Boise State, who they beat 34-31 in overtime.
Senior star quarterback Colin Kaepernick hasn’t missed a stride this season, throwing for 20 touchdowns while duplicating it on the ground with 20 more. Vai Taua routinely runs for over 100 yards per game and tied for the FBS lead with 22 touchdowns.

Another reason the Wolf Pack will garner most of the attention on the college football betting lines is their potent offense under the guidance of coach Chris Ault. They ranked third overall in the nation with 535.5 yards per game – and in rushing offense at an astonishing 305.9 yards per game.
There is a clear favorite in the Wolf Pack, and they should manage to cover the college football betting lines with a little more than a touchdown in the difference.
Another interesting betting angle for this contest is the OVER/UNDER. Totals bettors saw UNDER payouts in 16 of a combined 23 games for these two opponents.
Boston College boasts the nation’s best run defense, allowing just 80.2 yards per game. If the Eagles can take the attention off Taua and make Kaepernick think twice it could cause turnovers - giving the experienced Eagles a fighting chance against the dominant Wolf Pack.
On the offensive side, it will be primarily the rushing game that will be employed by Boston College. Freshman Andre Williams ran for 185 yards and a TD off 42 carries against Syracuse in their last game of the season, and showed they have someone else to involve in the ground attack other than questionable starting running back Montel Harris.
