Johnny Manziel, A&M odds reappear

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel isn’t in nearly as much trouble as some expected.
Texas A&M announced Wednesday that Manziel would only be suspended for the first half of the Aggies’ opener against Rice on Saturday.
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Manziel’s eligibility was put into question after an NCAA investigation was launched after allegations surfaced that he signed memorabilia for money.
“Thankfully things are more back to normal when it comes to college football now that Manziel will be playing this season,” said Bovada book manager Kevin Bradley in a release. “It makes my life a bit easier as we are now able to offer as much as we can, regarding him and the Aggies.”
Most sport books had kept the point spread on the A&M-Rice game off the board, but it was back up Wednesday with the Aggies favored by 27 points.
The Aggies’ odds to win the BCS National Championship climbed as high as 18-to-1 while the NCAA investigation was ongoing. But Bovada dropped A&M back down to 10-to-1.
Manziel’s odds to win the Heisman Trophy were adjusted from 12-to-1 to 7-to-1.
“Interestingly, there is not as much money coming in on him as there was months ago, when he was a clear favorite at 9-to-2,” Bradley added. “I guess the love and hype surrounding him on the football field is not as powerful as it once was.”
Bovada said it will release season props on Manziel on Thursday.
