Louisville Looks to Hand Houston 6th Straight ATS Loss

Louisville was joined by Michigan, Clemson and Washington at 9-1 with all three of those formerly undefeated teams taking losses to teams outside the top 20 in Week 11. The Cardinals, however, got it done and will go into their Thursday night matchup with the Houston Cougars with a shiny new No. 3 ranking.

SHARK BITES
  • Louisville is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games on the road against teams with winning records.
  • Houston is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games after winning the previous game in a matchup.
  • The total has gone OVER in 11 of Louisville's last 15 games.

The Cardinals have been on an unstoppable roll since their loss to Clemson and will look to keep the ball moving against a Houston Cougars team that has not covered the spread in five straight games. Although the Cougars took the last game in this matchup last year, they will come in as significant home underdogs as their 8-2 record has been aided by playing just one team that currently resides in the AP rankings.

Despite their sparkling record, the Cardinals are just 5-4 against the spread in games they’ve been tabbed as favorites and have not posted a consecutive OVER or UNDER in their last five games. Louisville’s quarterback, Lamar Jackson, has been absolutely incredible this year and is the massive favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. If the Cougars are to find success in this one, they will have to do something that no team has been able to do this year – slow down Jackson.

The Cougars’ only two losses this year came in the only two games in which they gave up more than 100 rushing yards. Jackson is averaging 133.4 rushing yards per game all by himself and his team is averaging 270 – not a good trend for Houston.
