Stingy Badgers Aim to Extend Maryland’s Offensive Woes

The Wisconsin Badgers vie for an eighth straight victory on Saturday when they take on the Maryland Terrapins in a Week 8 Big Ten conference matchup at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers leapt to No. 5 on the AP Top 25 with a narrow 17-9 win over Purdue as 17-point home favorites while the Terrapins fell to 3-3 on the season with a 37-21 loss at Northwestern as 2.5-point underdogs.

Shark Bites
  • Wisconsin is 7-0 SU in its last seven games at home.
  • The total has gone OVER in six of Wisconsin’s last seven games against its conference.
  • Maryland is 12-5 ATS in its last 17 games after consecutive losses.

The Badgers defense ranks fifth in the nation after last week’s win over the Boilermakers. Wisconsin has surrendered just 13.3 points per game this season, and has held visiting clubs to 10 or fewer points in four of its past six regular-season home dates. However, that has not prevented the point total from going OVER in eight of their past 11 overall.

Conversely, the Terrapins offense has sputtered since racking up 57 ppg over its first two outings of the season. Maryland has averaged just 19 ppg during its current 1-3 SU and ATS run. But after giving up 99 total points in its past two outings, the Terrapins have seen the OVER prevail in three straight outings.

This marks just the third all-time meeting between these two teams. Wisconsin failed to cover as 9.5-point chalk in a 31-24 win at Maryland in 2015, but dominated in a 52-7 victory as 9.5-point home favorites in a 2014 meeting at Camp Randall.
