Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl Matchup

The December 30 game in Nashville includes coach Bobby Petrino's Cardinals, who had a 5-1 second half, including a win against another SEC team, cross-state rival Kentucky. Conversely, coach Kevin Sumlin's Aggies have lost four of their last six games against Football Bowl Subdivision teams since a promising start where they defeated nationally ranked Arizona State and Mississippi.

The Cardinals, who played conference musical chairs before nesting in the ACC Atlantic, are 3-5 as an ATS favorite and 3-1 as the underdog. Junior ILB Keith Kelsey, who is first-team all-ACC, has 100 tackles and leads a unit that is 15th nationally in total defense and 13th against the run. Pass-rush specialist Trevon Young has 8.5 sacks, even though he was suspended for the Kentucky game due to breaking team rules.

Louisville has a good track record of being 6-4 SU and 7-3 ATS across its last 10 games against the SEC. Petrino's offense has struggled due to issues with an offensive line with a freshman LT, Geron Christian and only one senior, RT Aaron Epps. Freshman QB Lamar Jackson has passed for 1,613 yards with 10-to-8 TD/interception ratio and is also the Cardinals' leading rusher with 734 yards nine9 scores by land. Juniors Jamari Staples (36-610-3) and James Quick (35-551-5) are the main pass catchers.

Texas A&M is 5-4 as the ATS favorite and 0-3 as the underdog. The Aggies defense creates challenges in the passing phase. Sophomore DE Myles Garrett has 11.5 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss, and A&M's ability to bring heat have led to it ranking fourth in pass defense with 161.3 yards allowed per game. The Aggies are a dismal 104th against the run, allowing 205.9 yards per outing.

Offensively, Texas A&M expects to have sophomore QB Kyle Allen, who has been working through injuries and inconsistency, healthy for the bowl game. Senior RB Tra Carson (1,059 yards, 4.8 YPC, 7 total TD) will be finishing his NCAA career. Allen, who has 2,210 passing yards with a 17-to-7 TD/INT ratio, has mainly focused on finding freshman WR Christian Kirk (70-925-6) and junior WR Josh Reynolds (40-730-5) in Sumlin's four-wideout spread attack.
