A 10-win season in college football is a terrific accomplishment but oddsmakers believe it will happen many times in the 2011 season.
Alabama, Boise State, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Florida State and Nebraska are all favored to surpass 10 wins, according to Sportsbook. Betting regular season over unders has grown in popularity in recent years as handicappers judge the strength of each conference and predict how many wins each team should reasonably achieve.
In the ACC, rebounding Florida State is pegged to break 10 wins and Boise State is a virtual lock to win 10+ games in the Mountain West.
Alabama, looking to make it six national championships in a row for the SEC, are -165 favorites to go past 10 wins in the nation’s toughest conference. Oklahoma, the preseason BCS title favorite, is also favored to surpass 10 wins in the tough Big 12.
Big 12 transplant Nebraska (the Huskers begin play in the Big Ten this year) is the other team projected to surpass double digits.
Last year’s national champ is expected to struggle with the Auburn Tigers set at 6.5 wins.
UCLA and Kansas State have the two lowest totals (5.5 wins). Both are in tough in the new Pac 12 and Big 12 respectively.
