Line Moves: Alabama Bigger Favorites
Last week, as is often the case in college football, there were major line movements of over four points all over the board. But for whatever reason, this week’s biggest line movements are each only by a field goal or less. Here’s a look at the four games with the biggest line movements in Week 8.
Illinois @ Purdue (from -6.5 to -3.5 at 5Dimes)
After losing their first game straight up to Ohio State last week and three of their last four ATS, bettors clearly weren’t confident in Illinois to cover the spread this week. Purdue is 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS in their last three games at home against Illinois. Purdue is also 7-3 SU overall against Illinois in their last 10 meetings.
Tennessee @ Alabama (from -27.0 to -30.0 at TopBet)
Tennessee looked lost on offense in a 38-7 loss at home to LSU last week, and bettors expect their struggles to continue this week against Alabama. There isn’t much to dislike about the Crimson Tide, who are 6-1 ATS this season. In Alabama’s last seven against Tennessee they are 5-2 SU and 5-1-1 ATS.
Marshall @ Houston (from -20.5 to -23.0 at BetOnline)
Undefeated Houston is 3-0 ATS at home this season and won their last game against East Carolina 56-3, likely contributing factors to early bettors jumping on them to cover the big chalk at home. While Marshall is only 3-4 SU, they are 5-2 ATS this season and are 2-0 ATS in their last two against Houston.
New Mexico @ TCU (from -40.5 to -43.0 at Bovada)
How many points is too many? Horned Frogs Bettors don’t seem to be intimidated by the big chalk against the winless New Mexico Lobos who are 1-4 ATS in their last five games. Last season in New Mexico, TCU covered as a 44.5-point road favorite in a 66-17 win over the Lobos. This year’s TCU team is 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS.
