Ohio State Quarterback Odds Hit Books

Fresh off their 2015 national championship win over the Oregon Ducks at AT&T Stadium the Ohio State Buckeyes should be loaded for another college football title run again next season.

Not only will star running back Ezekiel Elliott be back for at least one more year in Columbus, but the Buckeyes will also have one of three outstanding quarterbacks under center as the starter as they try to repeat as the betting favorites at Bovada.

The big question is, will it be junior Cardale Jones, sophomore J.T. Barrett, or senior Braxton Miller leading Ohio State’s bid for the 2016 national championship?

All three players have used a redshirt year, meaning Jones is eligible to enter the NFL Draft if he so chooses after going 3-0 in three starts replacing the injured Barrett, who fractured his ankle in a 42-28 win over the Michigan Wolverines last November 29.

Jones opened as the +110 favorite to win the starting job next season at Bovada and should return knowing he can dramatically improve his draft stock with more experience under his belt. He has since dropped slightly to +120 but remains the favorite to start the season opener.

Barrett was viewed as a Heisman Trophy candidate filling in for Miller, the two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year who entered 2014 as the starting QB for the Buckeyes before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the year. Barrett opened at +350 at Bovada and has since risen to +200, possibly offering the most upside of the three since he is the youngest and showed great promise in leading the team this past season.

Miller opened as the +125 second choice at Bovada but has since dropped to +175, and he has reportedly been seeking a transfer to another school. Barrett could be in the same boat if Jones emerges as the top choice of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer.
