Penn State Michigan Odds Preview

The Wolverines opened as 1-point favorites, but the line quickly grew to -3 early in the week. It’s easy to see why bettors are fading Penn State.

The Nittany Lions were blown out by Indiana last week and have lost two of three. Penn State is 1-5-1 against the spread in its last six games as home underdogs.

But Penn State has won three straight over the Wolverines, covering the spread in each of the victories. Overall, the Wolverines have won 9 of the past 12 meetings.

Last season’s meeting in Happy Valley was a shootout, with Penn State pulling out a 41-31 win.

Michigan pulled away from Minnesota last week to improve to 5-0, but have struggled on the road. The Wolverines are a money-losing 6-14 against the spread in their last 20 road games.

Oddsmakers at Sportsbook opened the Nittany Lions as 1-point underdogs in the matchup but it was bet up to +3 at Sportsbook by Thursday morning, while the betting total was 50.5 mid-week.

According to the Power Rankings here at OddsShark it's the No. 27-rated Nittany Lions and the No. 18-rated Wolverines in this matchup. Predictive formulas point to a 43-36 win for the Wolverines on Saturday.



Christian Hackenberg's 340-yard performance through the air wasn't enough last time out, as Indiana earned a 44-24 win over Penn State on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
