San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Matchup

Since opening the current campaign with five SU wins in their first six games, including four wins by 31 or more points, the Boise State Broncos have struggled with consistency, losing two of their last three, both as double-digit home favorites, and posting against the spread wins in just two of their last six.

While the Broncos' recent play has been shaky at best, they can fall back on their success in recent bowl game appearances, winning five of their last six SU, including a 38-30 win over Arizona in last season's Fiesta Bowl, defying the odds at the sportsbooks where they were pegged as 2.5-point underdogs.

The Broncos have also ranked among the top teams in the nation in offense, averaging 489 total yards per game, and 554.5 yards over their last four, but have also struggled to contain opposing offenses, which have averaged almost 38 points per game over their last four, forcing the point total OVER in three of those contests.

The Northern Illinois Huskies' current SU losing slide ends a six-game win streak that earned them a share of the MAC West division crown for a sixth straight year. However, the Huskies have enjoyed far less success during their string of eight straight bowl game appearances, losing their last three, and six of their last eight, both SU and ATS, including a pair of Poinsettia Bowl appearances.

However, the Huskies have held the upper hand in recent clashes with MWC opponents, posting a 38-30 win over UNLV in Week 1 of this year, following a 48-34 victory in Week 3 of 2014, but were topped by tougher competition in their previous two, dropping decisions to Utah State and TCU.

The point total has played UNDER in seven of the Huskies' 13 outings this season, with the team claiming victory in just two of those contests. Conversely, Northern Illinois has enjoyed much greater success in high-scoring affairs, going a perfect 6-0 SU when the total plays OVER, averaging 48.2 points per game in those matchups.
