Boilermakers Ride Skid into 2015 Opener

The Purdue Boilermakers will be looking to end a six-game SU losing streak in which they covered the spread just twice when they play on the road against the Marshall Thundering Herd on Sunday in their season opener.

It was yet another dismal season for the Boilermakers last year after they finished with a 1-11 record in 2013. Purdue showed promise with a 3-3 SU start in 2014 before beginning their losing slide, but were a respectable 6-5-1 ATS overall.

The Thundering Herd saw a perfect regular season spoiled last year by a 67-66 overtime loss to Western Kentucky in their finale, finishing the season with a strong 13-1 SU record, 8-5-1 ATS, to claim their first Conference USA championship.

Sunday's Boilermakers vs. Thundering Herd matchup at Joan C. Edwards Stadium will be just the second time these two teams have met. Purdue earned a 51-41 win in their only other meeting, back in 2012, but failed to cover as 17-point home favorites.
