Saturday Setup: NCAAF Suspensions
Suspensions are a big part of the college football landscape, and staying on top of who is out and who is in can help give you a handicapping edge.
Here’s a look at some important suspension news heading into Saturday, as well some other interesting betting angles to consider.
Ole Miss suspends four players
As if taking on No. 2 Alabama wouldn't have been a tall enough task at 100%, things got even tougher for Ole Miss this Saturday with Houston Nutt’s decision to suspend four players for breaking team rules. Running back Brandon Bolden and starting center A.J. Hawkins are the two most notable players suspended. Mississippi is a 26.5-point underdog at home at Bovada.
Dan Herron returns from suspension
Dan Herron was a big part of Ohio State’s offense in 2010, rushing for 1155 yards and 16 touchdowns while earning first-team all-Big Ten honors. After missing the first six games of the season due to suspension, Herron returns this week at Illinois and should make an immediate impact. While Illinois has every reason to feel confident with a 6-0 SU start, they have lost three straight against Ohio State and eight straight against the Buckeyes at home. They’ll try to break those streaks as a 3.5-point favorite at TopBet.
LSU popular road chalk
With Tennessee’s quarterback Tyler Bray out with a broken thumb and LSU steamrolling everyone this season, the Tigers are the most popular ATS pick on the board among OddsShark matchup reports this week with 72% of bettors predicting they will cover the spread. LSU is 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS, and has won every game this season by double digits. The Tigers are a 17-point road favorite at 5Dimes.
Florida State perfect against Duke
If history is any indication, Florida State couldn’t hand-pick a much better opponent to get their season back on track against than the Duke Blue Devils. Not only is Florida State 16-0 SU all time against the Blue Devils, but they are also 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings and have scored 44 or more points in 14 of those 16 meetings. The Seminoles are a 13.5-point road favorite at BetOnline.
