Books dread Auburn in BCS Title Game
You can add the oddsmakers at Bovada to the list of SEC haters and Florida State fans who are cheering against Auburn in Monday’s BCS national championship game.
The book, like some others monitored by OddsShark.com, have too much action on the SEC champion Tigers. If Auburn covers the current 8-point spread – or worse yet, if they win outright – it can be a disastrous end to the college football season for Bovada.
“It’s all Auburn right now, they are about 60 percent on the spread +8 and 70 percent on the moneyline at +240,” said Kevin Bradley of Bovada today.
And the Tigers, who upset two-time defending champion Alabama before beating Missouri in the SEC championship game, are also a huge liability for the book on future bets, meaning the book has lots of longshot money riding on an Auburn win.
“Any way we look at it, we are huge FSU fans,” said Bradley.
Florida State is a huge favorite to break the SEC’s seven-game win streak in the national title game. The Seminoles, led by Heisman Trophy winning freshman Jameis Winston, are 13-0 on the season and were 11-2 ATS.
They covered plenty of big point spreads along the way, giving hope to FSU backers and nervous shops like Bovada. They have also dominated in bowl games over the years, running up a hugely profitable 9-0-1 ATS streak in 10 bowl games.
