Alabama Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Fading Volunteers

The Alabama Crimson Tide look to extend their straight-up win streak on home turf to 17 games on Saturday when they take on the Tennessee Volunteers in a Week 8 college football matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Undefeated Alabama improved to 7-0 with last week’s 41-9 rout of Arkansas as 37-point chalk while Tennessee fell to 3-3 with a 15-9 loss to South Carolina as 2-point home chalk.

Shark Bites
  • Tennessee is 3-8 ATS in its last 11 games against Alabama.
  • The total has gone OVER in four of Tennessee’s last five games against Alabama.
  • Alabama is 1-5 ATS in its last six games at home after winning its most recent home game.

With last week’s win, the Crimson Tide improved to 31-1 SU at home since the start of the 2013 season. But Alabama has produced mixed results at the sportsbooks, covering just once in its past six overall on home turf, and is a dismal 2-10 ATS in its past 12 at home while favored by 30 or more points.

The Volunteers’ offensive struggles continued with last weekend’s loss to the Gamecocks. Tennessee has averaged just 7.3 points per game over its past three, contributing to a 4-0 run for the UNDER in totals betting. The Volunteers have also lost four straight road games, and have been shaky performers at the sportsbooks, going 1-5 ATS this season.

Alabama has taken 10 straight from the Volunteers, and is unbeaten in six home meetings between these SEC rivals. Tennessee has covered in two of its past three dates with Alabama, however, and has held the Tide to 19 or fewer points in two of its past four trips to Bryant-Denny Stadium.
