The 24th-ranked Ducks are set to host the unranked Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday a week after Oregon won their opener but failed to cover the spread. The Ducks came away with a 59-10 victory when they last met Virginia back in 2013.
The Ducks’ blistering offensive style has not changed much since the school parted ways with Chip Kelly. They put up the eighth-most total yards and the fifth-most points in the nation last year and started their 2016 by putting up 53 points against UC Davis. Oregon welcomed back Royce Freeman, 2015’s fourth-leading rusher, this season and saw him cruise to 87 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 rushes in Week 1.
Virginia and their new head coach Bronco Mendenhall dropped the first game of the season against Richmond after finishing just 4-8 in 2015. Dropping to an FCS school in the first week was not a great look for Virginia and an even worse look was allowing them to score 37 points.
The Cavaliers were a middle of the road defensive team last year but if their first game was any indication they could get a basketball score hung on them against the Ducks in Week 2.
