Week 1 College Football Odds Posted

The NFL draft is over, oddsmakers took note of which players remained at the powerhouse schools and immediately posted Week 1 college football betting odds on key matchups.

Not surprisingly, defending champion Alabama is a monster favorite against Virginia Tech in a neutral site game at Atlanta. Online sportsbook 5Dimes opened the Tide as 22-point favorites over the Hokies.

These teams met twice since 1998 and the OVER prevailed each time.

USC also kicks off as a big favorite and they lay 19 points at Hawaii to open the season on August 29. On the same day, the battle of the Carolinas sees the Gamecocks from the south favored by two touchdowns at home against the Tar Heels from the north.

Johnny Manziel starts his Heisman repeat season at home against Rice as Texas A&M lays 28.5 points, which is the biggest NCAA football point spread of the season so far. After losing to Florida in Week 1 a year ago, the Aggies reeled off three September wins by scorching opponents 176-27.

Temple gets 21 points at Notre Dame as well in a Saturday game. The Owls limped to the finish line last year with a 1-6 SU & ATS crawl while the Irish were tough, almost to the end.

The best game of the first week could be at Clemson where the Tigers host the Georgia Bulldogs. Currently, 5Dimes has Clemson at -2, but that will change.
