Bowl season kicks off in the desert with Wyoming battling Fresno State in a New Mexico Bowl match that sees the Cowboys as big underdogs.

Wyoming Cowboys +10.5 vs. Fresno State Bulldogs O/U 55 at Bovada

4:30 PM EST Saturday December 19, 2009 Albuquerque, New Mexico

Wyoming was 6-6 this season and won two of their last three Mountain West Conference games. However, they will have a hard time bucking the New Mexico Bowl odds makers that has Fresno State and their dynamic offense winning this game by at least 10.5 points.

Fresno State was 8-4 overall this season, but they won seven of their last eight games and they have the nation's 19th ranked offense. That is the reason oddsmakers at Bovada opened them as a 10.5 point favorite against Wyoming.

Wyoming was 6-6 this season and 4-4 in the Mountain West Conference. They were 0-4 against ranked teams this season and they were blown out in three of those games. Wyoming is seen as one of the weaker teams that made it to a bowl game, as in their six wins they only won one game that ended the season with a winning record and that was Weber State, which is why they are a big 10.5 point underdog at Bovada.

Fresno State (8-4 3-8 ATS) has a great offense and have one of the best RB's that nobody has heard of in Ryan Mathews (1,664 yds 17 TD). He ran for over 100 yards in 10 games this season including over 200 yards twice with 234 yards against BCS bowl bound Boise State.

QB Ryan Colburn (2,333 yds 18 TD) is a legit QB that can air it out and his main targets of Wr's Seyi Ajirotutu and Jamel Haml both averaged right around 14 yards per reception.

Wyoming will have a hard time stopping the Bulldogs' offense, as they only rank 83rd in the nation on defense and 91st on rushing defense.

Wyoming (6-6 8-3 ATS) only has the nation's 112th ranked offense and for them to win they will have to run the ball with the duo of RB Alvester Alexander (503 yds 6 TD) and WR Brandon Stewart (470 yds 2 TD)

Fresno State only has the nation's 97th ranked defense so they may have to put up a ton of points to win this game. If their secondary can contain WR David Leonard (70 rec 645 yds 1 TD) they will be in good shape since he is the only legit receiving option the Cowboys have.
