NFL odds show Colts favored in Thursday night clash
I’m not convinced the Colts are as good as they are hot. I’m also not convinced the Jags are as bad as their record. Putting these two thoughts together, is there value in the Thursday Night NFL odds with Indy favored by 6.5 points on the road?
NFL odds - Indianapolis Colts -6.5 (10-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars (5-9) O/U 44
When the schedule came out many thought that this would be a huge late-season AFC South match up. Both teams stumbled out of the game, but the Colts regrouped and are now 10-4.
The Jags have been inconsistent all season and, at 5-9, are one of the more disappointing teams in the NFL and will be watching the playoffs from home.
The Colts are on fire, as of late, winning seven games in a row. And they face a team that is just 1-6 ATS at home this year. But beware NFL trend junkies – the Jags are 8-2 ATS the past 10 meetings with Indy. If you like betting NFL underdogs, you can often find the best odds at Bovada
The Colts’ defense is ranked 11th and are playing much better in the second half of the season. The Colts defense will have to contain Jags’ RB Maurice Jones-Drew, who is a major threat rushing the ball (655 yds 12 TD) and receiving out of the backfield (54 rec 484 yds 2 TD).
The Jaguars are ranked 15th on defense and they will have to contain Peyton Manning, who looks like he is back in MVP form.
David Garrard has looked great in some games and horrible in others, as being consistent has been the Jaguars main problem this year.
A key to this game is the health of Colts RB Joseph Addai. He is banged up and is questionable for this game, but if he plays the Jags’ D cannot only focus on stopping Manning and the Colts passing game - they will have to worry about the Colts’ rushing attack as well.
If the Colts can win this game, they will snag an AFC Wild Card and improve their AFC title odds and Super Bowl XLIII odds as well.
Even though the Colts are on fire lately, those betting on them are not happy campers, as the Colts are only 5-9 ATS this season, while the Jags are even worse at 4-10.
The Colts are 11-4 SU in their last 15 games when playing the Jaguars. The Jaguars are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games when playing the Colts and the total has gone Over in 5 of the Jaguars last 7 games when playing at home against the Colts.
OddsBlogger NFL Pick: Even though the Jaguars won their last game they will have a hard time beating a Colts team, which is the hottest team in the league. Peyton Manning should have a big game and the Jags do not have the offensive firepower if this game becomes a shootout.
Look for the Colts to win this game and cover the spread.
